Is there any non-cream medication that can prevent/reduce skin irritation?

I have a dog whose hair makes my arm turn red and itchy almost immediately after contact. This lasts for about an hour or so. There aren't any other typical allergy side effects like sneezing and such, just itchy red skin. The only pill I've found that can reduce this is Benadryl, which has the side effect of making me sleepy. Is there any other antihistamine allergy pill that can help with skin irritation?Is there any non-cream medication that can prevent/reduce skin irritation?
They do sell NON-drowsy Benadryl ya know.
